Vipers SC faces a crucial match against Maroons today, with victory likely to crown them eight-time league champions. The Venoms, currently leading the Uganda Premier League with 61 points from 28 games, are aiming to secure the title despite a recent dip in form.
Despite their strong early-season performance under Ivan Minnaert, Vipers have managed only two wins in their last 10 matches across all competitions, leading to fan discontent and scrutiny over the coach’s future. Their Uganda Cup exit to Kitara has only heightened the pressure.
Meanwhile, KCCA FC, in second place, remains in contention and will host URA FC. A win for KCCA, coupled with a Vipers loss or draw, could significantly tighten the title race. KCCA has shown a spirited comeback in recent games, putting pressure on the league leaders.
Vipers would still hold the advantage in a tie-breaker due to their superior head-to-head record against KCCA this season.
Beyond the title race, the league also sees intense battles at the bottom. Mbarara City hosts Buhimba United in a fixture that could relegate Buhimba, while UPDF faces Calvary in a vital “six-pointer” for survival.
The final matchdays promise an exciting conclusion, with heroes potentially emerging and dreams being realized or shattered.
