Vipers SC has been crowned champions of the Uganda Premier League for the eighth time, overcoming a challenging period to secure the title. A decisive 3-0 win against Maroons at Wankulukuku stadium, coupled with rivals KCCA’s goalless draw against URA, confirmed Vipers’ dominance.

The Venoms’ victory was built on a foundation of resilience, strong defense, and an ability to secure results even when their performance dipped. The team finished the season with 64 points from 29 matches, remaining undefeated on the pitch with 18 wins and 10 draws, and boasting a +36 goal difference.

This triumph arrived amidst a tense period for Vipers, who had gone four league games without a win and recently faced an exit from the Uganda Cup. Despite the pressure, early goals from Yunus Sentamu and Usama Arafat, along with a late strike from Karim Watambala, sealed the crucial victory.

While Vipers celebrate their hard-earned title, the league’s overall competitiveness remains a point of discussion. Challengers like KCCA, SC Villa, and Kitara failed to sustain consistent runs, highlighting potential areas for growth in Ugandan football.

With the league title secured, Vipers’ final fixture against Express on Friday is now a ceremonial affair. Meanwhile, at the bottom of the table, Buhimba United Saints and Calvary appear destined for relegation.
