Newly elected leaders in Uganda have been urged to embed integrity, wisdom, and fairness into their core principles as they assume their responsibilities. Soroti Chief Magistrate, Her Worship Hilda Bakanansa, highlighted these values as foundational for effective and accountable governance.

Speaking after officiating the swearing-in ceremony for Soroti leaders, Justice Bakanansa stressed that an oath of office is a solemn commitment to serve the public and adhere to the law. She expressed a desire for the leaders’ tenures to be characterized by unity, progress, and meaningful transformation.

The call for principled leadership resonates as many local governments across Uganda welcome newly elected officials. In Soroti, District Chairperson Bob Owiny pledged to prioritize unity and serve all constituents, regardless of their electoral choices.

Similarly, Budaka District Chairperson Anthony Ketu committed to combating corruption and enhancing service delivery, vowing to take firm action against any form of extortion or corrupt practices within the district administration.

Adding spiritual guidance, Soroti Catholic Bishop Joseph Eciru implored leaders to excel through wise decision-making and to safeguard their reputations above all else, ensuring their people rejoice rather than groan under their leadership.

This message serves as a crucial reminder for public servants to uphold ethical standards and work for the common good. https://www.monitor.co.ug/uganda/news/national/let-integrity-guide-you-magistrate-tells-new-leaders-5464920
