dfcu Bank has announced the appointment of Margaret Karume as its second executive director. This strategic move is intended to expand the bank’s top leadership and enhance its operational structure.
Karume brings over three decades of banking expertise in the East African region, having held significant roles in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Before her current appointment, she served as dfcu Bank’s Chief Credit Officer, where she was responsible for the bank’s credit operations and portfolio management. She also played a key role in the Customer Experience Unit and contributed to the bank’s credit automation efforts.
Her previous experience includes serving as Managing Director and CEO of NCBA Bank Tanzania, where she successfully led a merger. Karume also held the position of Managing Director and CEO at NIC Bank Tanzania and occupied senior positions in credit risk and corporate banking.
The bank stated that Karume’s appointment is a key component of its strategy to fortify its leadership team as it aims for continued growth and operational enhancements.
Beyond her professional roles, Karume has been actively involved in mentorship and talent development initiatives for emerging professionals in the banking sector.
