Security Raids Target Anita Among's Kigo and Ntinda Homes Amidst Corruption Probe

Joint security forces, including the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), have extended their operations to the high-end properties of outgoing Speaker Anita Among in Kigo and Ntinda. These latest searches follow a heavily guarded operation at her Nakasero residence on Saturday, signaling an escalation in the state’s crackdown.
The security cordon around both the Ntinda and lakeside Kigo residences has restricted access, with operatives actively searching for financial records, asset declarations, and procurement documents. Sources suggest the investigation is linked to allegations of corruption, money laundering, and the accumulation of illicit wealth during her tenure as Speaker.
The probe appears to have been intensified by a public petition to the Inspector General of Government concerning Among’s wealth declaration, particularly her acquisition of a Rolls-Royce Cullinan. Security agencies are reportedly examining broader financial networks and transactions involving parliamentary officials.
These raids have occurred shortly after the swearing-in ceremony for the 12th Parliament and ahead of the upcoming election for the new Speaker. The operations are expected to extend to her parliamentary offices and her country home in Bukedea District, with potential court proceedings anticipated.
