Museveni Meets IGG Amidst Probe into Ex-Speaker Among

President Yoweri Museveni has reportedly held discussions with the Inspector General of Government (IGG), Justice Aisha Naluzze Batala, and her deputies. This meeting, which took place at State House Entebbe on Saturday, is understood to have focused on the ongoing corruption investigations targeting former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among.

The development comes as security forces have conducted raids on several residences believed to be associated with Ms Among in Kampala. Sources indicate these operations were aimed at gathering evidence for potential corruption-related charges.

Justice Naluzze confirmed last Friday that her office had received a petition from lawyers requesting an investigation into Ms Among concerning allegations of corruption and illicit wealth accumulation. She stated that the complaint is being processed according to the established procedures.

The searches over the weekend targeted properties in upscale areas like Nakasero, Ntinda, and Kigo. Investigators are reportedly seeking documents and other evidence relevant to charges that may include corruption, illicit enrichment, and money laundering.

This comes after a separate meeting last Thursday where President Museveni reportedly informed Ms Among that auditors would be sent to her.
