President Yoweri Museveni’s parting words to outgoing Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, following a significant meeting at State House Entebbe on May 14, 2026, were a stark warning: “I am going to send you some auditors.”

The two-hour meeting, which included government officials, religious leaders, and other dignitaries, was called by the President to address the NRM’s February resolution endorsing Speaker Among and her Deputy Thomas Tayebwa.

Sources indicate the meeting was tense, with discussions reportedly touching upon financial procedures, a topic on which former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga may have provided context. Accusations of witchcraft were also allegedly exchanged during the proceedings.

Following the directive to Among, joint security agencies, including the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), have launched intensive searches at Speaker Among’s residences in Nakasero, Ntinda, and Kigo. These operations are part of a widening investigation into alleged corruption, money laundering, and illicit wealth accumulation, reportedly stemming from a public petition to the Inspector General of Government regarding Among’s wealth declaration.

The searches are expected to extend to her home in Bukedea, Parliament, and the properties of her close associates as the investigation intensifies.
