The second day of the 12th Parliament’s swearing-in ceremony saw a significant number of ministers and returning legislators take their oaths of allegiance. Among those who took the podium were key figures like the Third Deputy Premier, Rukia Nakadama Isanga, and ministers Matia Kasaija (Finance), Nobert Mao (Justice), Judith Nabakooba (Lands), and Margaret Muhanga (State for Health).
Also among the newly sworn-in members were former representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly, Suzan Nakawuki and Dennis Namara. Journalist Eriasa Mukiibi Sserunjogi and Elias Luyimbazi Nalukoola, who joined the 11th Parliament via a by-election, also took their oaths.
A notable presence in the House was former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, who was present not to take an oath himself, but to accompany his wife, Jacqueline Mbabazi. She is now a Member of Parliament representing Older Persons in the Western region.
By the end of the second day, approximately 170 members had been sworn in, bringing the total over two days to 354, more than half of the total membership. The swearing-in process for the 12th Parliament is set to conclude on Friday, May 15, 2026.
