Kamuli District has a new leader at the helm, with LCV Chairperson Kaloli Dhizaala making a clear commitment to a governance style centered on the people.
During his recent swearing-in ceremony, Dhizaala articulated his vision, stating that his administration will be built on the pillars of increased service delivery, strict accountability, and robust community engagement. His primary goal is to restore public trust in the district’s institutions.
Dhizaala intends to adopt a hands-on approach, planning to spend significant time interacting directly with residents across the district to better understand and address their needs. He also pledged to revive the spirit of ‘bulungi bwansi’ (community service).
A strong warning against corruption was issued, with specific mention of recruitment processes. Dhizaala declared a zero-tolerance policy for bribery, vowing that any individual found engaging in corrupt practices, whether as a giver or receiver, would face the full extent of the law.
To bolster efficiency, plans are in motion to strengthen the District Service Commission, aiming to fill staffing gaps and streamline service provision. The new leadership team also includes Betty Mutesi as Speaker, Asuman Nololo as Deputy Speaker, Peter Namuboneyo as Vice Chairperson, Brian Basimba as Secretary for Social and Community-Based Services, Justine Mpindi as Secretary for Works and Technical Services, and former LCV Chairperson Sarah Sambya as Secretary for Administration, Finance and Planning.
The smooth transition saw Chief Magistrate Paul Owino Abdonson preside over the swearing-in, with Chief Administrative Officer Ben Lawrence Marley handing over the instruments of power, assuring the new leadership of the civil service’s readiness to collaborate for the district’s betterment.
