Eddy Kenzo, president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), has played a crucial role in resolving a public dispute between fellow musicians Mudra and D Star concerning their collaboration on the ‘Hoozambe Remix’. The fallout had caused significant friction between the artists.
Kenzo initiated a professional audit of the song’s earnings to determine revenue generated and establish a fair distribution plan. This review revealed that Mudra had received less than 2% of the Shs 140 million previously cited during their disagreement.
Based on these findings, Mudra and D Star have reportedly reached a new understanding regarding royalty sharing and ownership of the remix. Kenzo emphasized the professional handling of the matter, ensuring both artists understood their contributions and financial rights.
“The two artistes have even apologized to each other over the harsh words they said out of frustration and anger. Everything is now sorted, and they will be seen performing together on the same stage,” Kenzo stated.
While the specifics of the new agreement remain confidential, both Mudra and D Star are now reportedly clear on ownership percentages and future royalty distributions. This resolution is expected to allow the artists to collaborate and perform together once again, putting an end to the public controversy surrounding the ‘Hoozambe Remix’.
