12th Parliament Convenes: Key Figures Sworn In Amidst Ceremony

The 12th Parliament of Uganda has officially commenced its term, with Members of Parliament (MPs) undertaking their oaths of allegiance and membership. The significant event, held at the Parliament Building, was marked by a formal ceremony and broadcast across various media channels.
The day began with the playing of national and regional anthems, followed by the Clerk to Parliament administering the oaths as stipulated by the Constitution. The first MP-elect to take the oath was Enos Asiimwe Kinywamachunda, representing Kabula County. He was subsequently followed by other elected officials.
Prominent figures who took their oaths included the Speaker of the 11th Parliament, Anita Annet Among, who was accompanied by her husband, Moses Magogo Hassim. The Vice President, Jessica Alupo, and the Third Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, also participated in the swearing-in ceremony.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja officially closed the morning session of the swearing-in. By the end of the session, 97 Members had taken their oaths. The swearing-in process is scheduled to continue over several days to accommodate all newly elected legislators.
