Security forces heavily deployed and searched the Nakasero residence of Bukedea District Woman MP, Anita Annet Among, on Saturday.
The operation occurred just days after the 11th Parliament Speaker was reportedly directed by ruling party organs to withdraw from the race for the Speakership of the newly inaugurated 12th Parliament.
Armed police, supported by intelligence officers, cordoned off Among’s home, restricting access. While official reasons for the search were not immediately disclosed, political observers link the event to internal rifts within the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
This development follows scrutiny of Among, who has previously faced allegations of corruption and undeclared assets, which she has consistently denied.
Allies of the Bukedea lawmaker have decried the search as political intimidation. The situation signals a potentially tumultuous start to the new parliamentary term, with the political future of a prominent legislator now uncertain.
