The three-day intensive oath-taking ceremony for newly elected Members of Parliament concluded on Friday, May 15, 2026. The morning session alone welcomed 83 members to the Parliament Building, bringing the cumulative total of sworn-in legislators to 441.

Hon. Teddy Nambooze, representing the National Unity Platform (NUP) for Mpigi district, was among the first on Friday to pledge allegiance to the Republic of Uganda, vowing to uphold the Constitution and serve Parliament faithfully.

The day’s proceedings also included oaths from notable figures such as the Minister of Defence, Hon. Marksons Jacob Oboth, and representatives for the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces, Lt. Gen. Sam Okiding and Col. Christine Nekesa. Other members sworn in included Hon. Persis Princess Namuganza, Workers’ representative Hon. Margaret Namubiru Rwabushaija, and former Government Media Centre Executive Director Hon. Ofwono Opondo P’Odel.

The ceremony, held at the Parliament Building, marked the official induction of the new legislative body.
