President Yoweri Museveni has emphasized the importance of fostering stronger diplomatic and bilateral relations with Venezuela. The Ugandan leader held discussions with Venezuela’s Vice President, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, at State House Entebbe.
Ramírez was in Uganda to attend Museveni’s inauguration, following his re-election. During their meeting, she provided an update on the situation in Venezuela, and both leaders explored avenues for enhanced cooperation.
The two nations have committed to identifying areas of mutual interest for potential collaboration. This engagement aligns with Uganda’s foreign policy objective of building broad partnerships through diplomacy and cooperation across different regions.
Recent diplomatic interactions between Uganda and Venezuela have seen a rise in engagement, with both countries expressing a desire to work together in economic, political, tourism, and technical sectors. This includes discussions between political parties, such as the NRM and Venezuela’s United Socialist Party, aimed at strengthening ties and exchanging knowledge in governance and development.
Uganda is actively pursuing an economic-focused foreign policy to translate national goodwill into tangible partnerships, support its development goals, and promote regional stability. This approach also involves maintaining robust relationships with neighboring countries and significant global players.
