Irene Katende officially assumed the role of the 14th president of the Rotary Club Kampala Day Break during an installation ceremony held in Kampala on Thursday night.
Katende outlined her vision for her one-year term, emphasizing the importance of fostering a strong club environment capable of making a significant difference in communities through dedicated service. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing president.
“Our focus is to strengthen our fellowship, grow our membership, and increase our impact in society,” Katende stated in her inaugural address. “We will prioritise investment in the growth and vibrancy of the club. Together with the board, we pledge to serve with dedication.”
The Rotary Club Kampala Day Break is actively involved in various community programs, including empowerment initiatives, healthcare advocacy, youth mentorship, disease prevention in rural areas, economic support, and national awareness campaigns.
Guest of honor Gerald Obai encouraged the new leadership to embody the club’s name, “Day Break,” by consistently embracing service to humanity. He urged all members to support Katende and her board, highlighting that collective effort is key to achieving the club’s mission.
