The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has implemented a significant change affecting motorists in Kampala’s central business district.

Effective immediately, on-street parking has been suspended along specific routes, primarily encompassing parts of Kampala Road and Jinja Road. The affected area stretches from the Entebbe Road junction, continuing along Kampala Road, and extending to the junction of Jinja Road and Yusuf Lule Road, near Kitgum House.

KCCA officials stated that this decision is a strategic measure to combat persistent traffic congestion and improve overall road safety for all users. The suspension is expected to facilitate smoother traffic flow and create a more organized urban environment.

Motorists are advised to make use of alternative parking facilities. These include designated areas along Station Road, Dewinton Road, Said Barre Road, and Nkrumah Road. Additionally, KCCA encourages drivers to utilize private parking garages within buildings and commercial centers they intend to visit. Public off-street parking options, such as the National Theatre, Uganda House, and the multi-storey facility on Portal Avenue, are also available.

The Authority is urging all motorists to adhere to these new parking regulations and to cooperate with KCCA enforcement officers. These measures are part of KCCA’s broader strategy to modernize Kampala’s transportation network and foster a more efficient and livable city.
