Ben Wanambwa’s life took a significant turn in early 2022 when a visit to his brother in Mbale led him to a church service. It was there, amidst the congregation, that his attention was captured by Grace Nambuya, a member of the choir.

“That day, I met the one who stole my heart forever,” Ben recalls, impressed by Grace’s presence and dedication. Following the service, Ben sought an introduction, and their initial conversation flowed effortlessly, leading to an exchange of numbers and, soon after, their first date.

Grace was drawn to Ben’s “calmness, respect, and love for God.” Despite physical distance, their connection deepened through daily communication via calls and messages, fostering a strong emotional bond. Their friendship blossomed into courtship, revealing shared visions for marriage and family, underpinned by the same faith, values, and expectations.

In 2023, Ben proposed to Grace in a simple yet intimate setting in Mbale, a moment witnessed by close friends. “It was not extravagant, but it was meaningful,” Grace shared, feeling an instant certainty about Ben being the right partner.

The couple’s journey continued with a pre-introduction visit in September 2023, where both families met. They harmoniously blended traditional introduction rites with their wedding celebration.

Their union culminated on December 2, 2023, at St Andrew’s Cathedral in Mbale. Officiated by Rev Canon Alice Wataka, the ceremony was followed by a reception in the church hall attended by over 500 guests, adorned in their chosen colors of peach and golden orange.

While the wedding day faced a slight delay due to multiple church ceremonies, impacting photography and reception schedules, it remained a beautiful celebration filled with joy and overwhelming love. The couple emphasizes the importance of pre-marital counseling in preparing them emotionally and spiritually for married life.

Ben advises young men to be intentional in love and pursue their dream partners with commitment and faith. Grace encourages women to look beyond superficial beauty, quoting Proverbs 31:30, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised,” highlighting the enduring strength of inner beauty and faith in sustaining a marriage.

Their love story, they affirm, continues to deepen as they navigate married life with the same faith, intentionality, open communication, and mutual respect that first brought them together. They view marriage as a daily commitment to understanding, supporting, and growing with each other, with God at the center of their life together.
