12th Parliament Swearing-in Continues Despite Drizzle

The second day of the oath-taking for the newly elected Members of Parliament for the 12th Parliament began promptly at 8:00 am, following national anthems and prayers. Despite a brief spell of rain shortly after the ceremony’s start and the reading of the proclamation, the proceedings remained on schedule.
The celebratory atmosphere, marked by drumming and music, continued as members took to the podium to be sworn in. Among the first to take the oath was the Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, representing Kibale East County. He was followed by other members including Amos Kankunda Kibwika, Stephen Kangwagye, and Laura Kanushu, who represents Persons with Disabilities.
Representatives of the UPDF, James Kinalwa and Samuel Kavuma, also took their oaths during the morning session. The swearing-in process, which commenced on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, is scheduled to conclude on Friday, May 15, 2026.
