South African President Cyril Ramaphosa is currently navigating significant political headwinds as calls for his resignation intensify. The pressure stems from the “Farmgate” scandal, which involves a large sum of foreign currency allegedly stolen from his Phala Phala game farm.
This situation has been exacerbated by a recent ruling from South Africa’s Constitutional Court. The court determined that President Ramaphosa had violated the Executive Ethics Code in his handling of the aforementioned scandal. This finding has provided a significant boost to opposition parties and other critics demanding his immediate departure from office.
Ramaphosa, however, has maintained his innocence and has indicated his intention to cooperate with any further investigations. He has not yet formally responded to the Constitutional Court’s findings, but the political landscape in South Africa remains volatile as the “Farmgate” scandal continues to unfold.
