President Yoweri Museveni took the Oath of Allegiance and Oath of President this morning at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, commencing a fresh five-year term.
The 81-year-old leader arrived at the venue around 11 am, accompanied by his son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for the inspection of an armed forces parade.
Security was tight, with elite Special Forces personnel flanking the president during the inauguration proceedings.
However, the absence of First Lady Janet Museveni drew significant attention from the crowd. She has been a consistent figure at past presidential inaugurations and other major national events, making her non-attendance a talking point.
Several dignitaries, including at least 15 Heads of State, were present to witness the ceremony, which marks the beginning of Museveni’s mandate expected to run until 2031.
