Two Arrested in Connection with Bank of Uganda Break-in

Police in Kampala have arrested two men in connection with a break-in at the Bank of Uganda (BoU) headquarters that occurred on May 4, 2026. The suspects have been identified as 19-year-old Boaz Michael from Wabigalo and Kabuye Ramadhan, also known as Rhama, from Nsambya Zone C.

According to police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, the investigation team has successfully recovered two of the eight laptops that were reported stolen during the incident. Both individuals are currently in police custody and are expected to be brought before the courts soon.

The break-in was detected on the morning of May 4 at the BoU Head Office on Kampala Road. The incident took place overnight, and eight laptop computers were taken. The Bank of Uganda confirmed the unlawful entry and stated they were cooperating with security agencies to investigate the matter.

BOu assured the public that its operations have not been affected by the incident and continue to run as normal. The investigation is ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the theft.
