After 20 years at the helm of Kaliisizo Town Council in Kyotera District, Richard Sande Ntambaazi has retired from his position. Ntambaazi, a stalwart of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), officially handed over the reins on Thursday to the Town Clerk, Ms. Resty Nabatanzi, in anticipation of the swearing-in of the newly elected chairperson, Geoffrey Sasa.
During his two decades of service, from 2006 to 2026, Ntambaazi expressed gratitude to the residents for their unwavering support. He highlighted the construction of roads across nearly all zones of Kaliisizo, alongside advancements in education and health services, as significant accomplishments during his tenure. However, he also acknowledged facing challenges such as resident criticism, issues with garbage management, and difficulties in local revenue collection.
Ntambaazi offered advice to his successor, emphasizing the importance of confidentiality in council affairs and close collaboration with technical staff to enhance service delivery. Ms. Nabatanzi lauded Ntambaazi as a dedicated leader and mentor who fostered unity, describing him as a “father figure” who encouraged growth and teamwork.
Geoffrey Sasa, the incoming chairperson from the National Unity Platform (NUP), has pledged to prioritize sanitation, security, and community development. He stated his commitment to improving service delivery and addressing the concerns of the residents.
