President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has commended the ruling NRM MPs for their swift passage of the Sovereignty Bill. The President highlighted the bill’s significance in safeguarding Uganda’s interests.
During his remarks, President Museveni articulated his vision for Africa, stressing the critical role of value addition and processing of raw materials. He stated, “I shall not be deterred by people who don’t see where the future of Africa lies. It is the short-sighted people who put their opinions in writing. They don’t understand that the future of all countries lies in processing.”
This strong stance underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing national control over resources and promoting economic self-sufficiency through industrialization. The NRM MPs’ support for the bill is seen as a crucial step in this direction.
