URA Staffer Investigated After Fatal Collision with Cleaner in Tororo

A tragic accident unfolded at the URA Service Centre in Tororo Municipality when a staff member knocked down and killed a cleaner on April 29, 2026.
Tororo Territorial Police confirmed that Inapat Janervive, a 50-year-old URA employee from URA Quarters, was behind the wheel of a black Subaru Forester. The victim, Nambozo Sarah, aged 32 and also a Tororo resident, was cleaning the veranda at the time.
Bukedi South police spokesperson Moses Mugwe stated the crash resulted from careless driving within the premises. Officers inspected the scene, and Sarah’s body was taken to Tororo General Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
The vehicle has been towed to Tororo Police yard for examination by the Inspector of Vehicles.
Mugwe urged drivers to exercise caution to prevent such incidents. Uganda’s 2025 crime data highlighted a rise in road crashes, with 26,044 incidents including 4,602 fatalities, up 3.7% from 2024.
