Vipers SC are poised to extend their dominance in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League when they take on KCCA FC at Lugogo on Wednesday night. The Venoms top the table with 58 points from 25 matches, boasting 48 goals scored and just 15 conceded for a +33 goal difference.
KCCA sit second on goal difference, tied on 51 points with SC Villa and Kitara, with 36 goals for and 19 against (+17). A win for Vipers would widen the gap, potentially sealing the title with five rounds left.
Under coach Ivan Minnaert, unbeaten Vipers have been relentless, exemplified by their recent 3-0 victory over Entebbe UPPC. Key threats include Yunus Sentamu, who netted a brace in that game, alongside Usama Arafat, Milton Karisa, and Karim Watambala.
KCCA are reeling from a shock loss to Calvary and need a strong response. The Lugogo clash is do-or-die, with eyes also on Kitara vs. SC Villa in Hoima, which could shake up the top four.
In their last nine encounters, Vipers hold a slight edge with four wins to KCCA’s three, plus two draws.
