Police Foil Fuel Station Robbery in Kampala, Arrest Three Suspects Including Guards

Police in Kampala’s Katwe Division successfully stopped an aggravated robbery at Nesta Petrol Station on Salaama Road in Makindye Division on April 27, 2026, around 9:00am.

Acting on reliable tips about the plot, a tactical team moved in and detained three men, recovering four pangas linked to the attempted heist.

The suspects are Muleke Martin, 31, and Maka Daniel, 23, both security guards at the station, along with Okemeru Steven, 27. They remain in custody as probes continue.

SP Rachael Kawala, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, confirmed the intelligence-led operation.

Kampala faces ongoing robbery challenges, with 2025 seeing 7,863 cases per the Police Crime Annual Report, up slightly from 2024. Aggravated robberies rose 6.7% to 2,101, and cash robberies surged 37.2% to 786.

KMP divisions topped the list, led by North Division (1,007 cases), South (779), and East (669). Katwe recorded 222 incidents.

These efforts highlight police commitment to curbing crime through vigilance.
