Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has conceded that Paris Saint-Germain deserve their bragging rights as current Champions League champions ahead of their semi-final clash.

PSG manager Luis Enrique recently hailed Bayern as Europe’s most consistent team, though he insisted no side surpasses his European title winners. Kompany agreed, stating that defending champions are entitled to such claims, but he hopes Bayern can make similar assertions next year.

“We fight for this title that PSG conquered already and they deserve all the praise,” Kompany remarked during a Monday press conference. “But we want to be in that position and have what they have.”

Bayern have defeated PSG twice in recent Champions League league phases but fell short in a Club World Cup encounter last July. Facing PSG’s attacking stars like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, and Desire Doue, Kompany countered by highlighting his own forwards—Harry Kane, Luis Diaz, and Michael Olise.

“Both teams are extremely creative in position play, one-on-one duels, and tight spaces,” he noted. “It’s about details, intensity, and energy. We’ve faced them often, but they must solve our puzzles too.”

Kompany will miss the Tuesday first leg in Paris, serving a one-match ban after picking up his third yellow card against Real Madrid. He’ll watch from the stands, drawing on his player-manager experience.

“I’m not happy with the suspension—it’s not fair—but we’ll solve it as a team,” he added.
