Police in Entebbe have initiated a probe into the mysterious disappearance of a Primary Six pupil from St Savio Junior Kisubi Primary School.

The 12-year-old boy, Victor Katungi, went missing on Thursday night around 9 p.m. during prep time. His science teacher, Emmanuel Agaba, had sent him out of class to retrieve his original paper after accusing him of forging marks. He never returned.

On Monday, officers from Kisubi police post visited the school, examined CCTV recordings, and interrogated the administration about the security lapse at the supposedly well-guarded facility.

Concerns have emerged over the school’s delay in notifying authorities; the case only reached police after Katungi’s family lodged a complaint. The boy’s father, Patrick Katungi, got a call that night, arrived at midnight, and joined a search of the compound and classrooms, but the child was nowhere to be found.

‘What bothers us is that the child was sent out, and nobody followed up. They say he jumped the fence despite guards and cameras. No one can explain how he vanished,’ Patrick stated.

CCTV shows Victor leaving the classroom and vanishing behind a block, but not his exit from the premises. Earlier footage captures a confrontation with his teacher, which the family links to the incident.

Entebbe Division Police Commander Moses Musinguzi Karakire has instructed the CID team at Kisubi to take statements from school staff before considering arrests.
