Local manufacturers in Mbale are buzzing with anticipation ahead of the regional trade fair, scheduled from June 5 to 14 at Mbale Secondary School playgrounds.
The 10-day showcase is projected to draw 300 exhibitors displaying their products to around 50,000 visitors from Eastern region districts, according to Regina Namwange, Chairperson of the Marketing and Events Committee at the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA).
Namwange highlighted the event’s role in boosting manufacturing growth, innovation, and agriculture to generate jobs and income nationwide. It aligns with Uganda’s tenfold development agenda, helping small businesses enter the formal economy and expand their reach.
A dedicated agricultural pavilion will offer hands-on training in value addition for individuals and cooperatives. The overarching theme is ‘formalising trade to secure Uganda’s economic future.’
Mubarak Kirunda Nkutu, UMA’s Director of Business Development and Membership Services, noted an educational pavilion tailored to the new curriculum, providing students with practical skills and career insights.
Exhibitors include Mbale Sino Uganda Mbale Industrial Park, where over 70 factories will demonstrate local production, as shared by PR Manager Kennedy Mushemza. Winfred Adong of Ayoma Toilet Papers Industry Limited sees it as a key opportunity to connect with broader markets.
UMA Board Chairman Aga Sekala confirmed the fair is fully exhibitor-driven.
