Liverpool claimed a crucial 3-1 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield, strengthening their push for Champions League qualification. The victory propelled them to fourth place with 58 points from 34 games.

However, the match turned sour when Mohamed Salah, the 33-year-old Egyptian forward set to depart the reigning Premier League champions at season’s end, suffered a suspected hamstring injury and exited in the 60th minute. He applauded the Anfield crowd, fueling speculation about his future games.

Manager Arne Slot lamented the injury woes, telling BBC: “Another win and another injury. It’s the story of our season.” He noted Salah’s reluctance to leave the pitch signals the issue’s severity, pending further assessment.

Goals came from record signing Alexander Isak, outgoing left-back Andy Robertson, and midfielder Florian Wirtz. Stand-in goalkeeper Freddie Woodman shone on his second Premier League outing for the club, filling in for injured Alisson Becker and deputy Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Woodman, who impressed in the recent Merseyside derby win over Everton, praised the defensive support: “When you’re playing behind top players, it makes my job so much easier.”

Crystal Palace, sitting 13th, aimed for a historic fourth win over Liverpool this season but fell short despite prior successes in the Community Shield, league, and League Cup.

Fans voiced frustration in the 13th minute by holding up yellow cards protesting rising ticket prices against owners Fenway Sports Group.

Liverpool face Chelsea, Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Brentford in their remaining fixtures, where Salah’s fitness could prove pivotal.
