Kyaggwe Ssaza launched its ambitious campaign for the 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup in Mukono, themed ‘Mission Kikopo 2026: Ffe tuli Gumite’. The event signals a tactical shift with Ronald Ssali taking over as head coach from Simon Peter Mugerwa, who moves to a technical advisor role.
Ssali, known for his youth development work at teams like Buweekula, Bulemeezi, St Mary’s Kitende, and Bukedea Comprehensive, will partner with William Kyeswa. Their focus is on possession-based play, better transitions, and control in knockout games—areas that tripped up Kyaggwe in past seasons.
Chief Ssekiboobo Vincent Matovu, joined by deputy Fred Katende, set high expectations at the launch. ‘We demand 100% in every match—no experiments or excuses,’ Matovu stated, urging the team to treat all games like finals. He highlighted past errors, like fielding a weak lineup against Ssingo last season.
Kyaggwe carries momentum from 2024 runners-up and 2025 bronze finishes but remains title-less. An advisory panel of Bernard Bainamani, Mikidad Mulimila, and David Kikabi will support the new setup. Ssali’s role at Prosper Academy promises a strong youth talent pipeline.
The 21st Masaza Cup starts June 13, 2026, with launch on June 10 and player registration closing April 28.
