Arsenal had endured a turbulent spell, watching their nine-point lead in the Premier League title race slip away. A 2-1 defeat to Manchester City last Sunday, coupled with City’s tight victory at Burnley midweek, ended their time at the summit for the first time since October.

However, a tense 1-0 triumph against Newcastle on Saturday, thanks to Eberechi Eze’s stunning ninth-minute strike, restored Arsenal to the top spot by three points. Manchester City still holds a game in hand, making the contest razor-close with identical goal differences.

Midfielder Declan Rice captured the team’s resolve post-match, referencing their post-City loss vow to secure five straight wins for the title. “That’s one down and now four to go,” he declared. “It was about winning no matter how.”

The Gunners’ remaining fixtures—home games versus Fulham and Burnley, plus away trips to West Ham and Crystal Palace—offer a realistic path to victory and their first league crown since 2004.

Captain Martin Odegaard echoed the fighting spirit after 97 grueling minutes, despite exhaustion. “This schedule is crazy, but we have to keep going,” the Norwegian said. “Fight every single game—we’re ready to take it to the end.”

Rice also eyes Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg at Atletico Madrid, heightening the excitement.
