Chinese electric vehicle company Xpeng anticipates kicking off large-scale production of its innovative flying cars next year, with full deliveries set for 2027. Company President Brian Gu shared these updates in a Reuters interview ahead of the Beijing Auto Show.

Xpeng has already secured over 7,000 orders for the flying cars, mostly from China, where it seeks aviation authority approvals. Initial deliveries could begin late this year.

Gu highlighted strong partnership potential with Volkswagen, which recently launched a joint EV model. He stressed Xpeng’s flexibility to collaborate with various automakers across regions to deliver mutual value.

The firm also plans robotaxi trials in Guangzhou this year, expanding globally in 2027, with hundreds to thousands of units produced in the coming 12-18 months. Humanoid robots, starting as receptionists and sales assistants, are slated for Q4 2026 production, with Gu predicting they will surpass the auto business in 10-20 years.

Xpeng operates in about 60 countries outside China, where overseas sales made up 10% of volume and 15% of revenue last year. Gu forecasts over 50% of revenue from international markets within five to ten years.
