The Thembekile Mandela Foundation and the Jane Acilo Foundation sealed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday, launching a joint effort to drive sustainable development and social justice throughout Africa.

The signing ceremony drew notable attendees, including diplomats and development partners, highlighting the value of multi-sector teamwork in tackling Africa’s key issues.

This alliance follows the recent Mandela Awards Commission honoring Jane Frances Acilo Nkya with awards for Philanthropic Excellence and Transformational Leadership, recognizing her dedication to community change.

Under the MOU, the foundations will collaborate on development projects, leadership building, and improving access to education, healthcare, and social services, while promoting Pan-African ties.

Ndileka Mandela, co-founder of the Thembekile Mandela Foundation and granddaughter of Nelson Mandela, described the agreement as a pledge to real action. She stressed that it honors legacies through concrete efforts that enhance dignity, opportunity, and hope in African communities.

The Mandela Awards Commission celebrates global leaders advancing peace, dignity, and innovation in Nelson Mandela’s spirit. Meanwhile, the Jane Acilo Foundation focuses on uplifting women, youth, and marginalized groups via education, economic support, health programs, and social protection.

This partnership promises fresh innovations, broader reach for vulnerable groups, and a stronger push for an inclusive Africa.
