A 19-year-old arts student at Akalo Comprehensive Secondary School in Kole District has recounted a harrowing ordeal of being sexually assaulted by Kole District CID officer Dickens Louis Ebong.
The incident occurred after the officer, whom she had met previously over National ID issues, called her on Tuesday using a new number. Pretending his sister was visiting and offering a history textbook on world affairs, he convinced the unwell student to visit his home at Kole Police Barracks.
Despite feeling weak, she took a boda boda to the location. Upon arrival, the officer locked the door, confessed his intentions, and threatened her with a pistol. He overpowered her, removing her clothing and raping her for about 15 minutes.
The victim’s father, William Olila, spotted her en route and trailed her to the barracks. After alerting local leaders and Assistant Resident District Commissioner Samuel Odongo, they gained entry and found her inside. Odongo described the suspect as arrogant and ordered his arrest, handing him over to regional supervisors.
North Kyoga regional police spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the suspect is in custody. Investigations include medical reports, further interrogation, and age verification.
Police have condemned the abuse of authority and urged public calm during the probe.
