Suspect in Ggaba Toddler Killings Researched Multiple Schools Before Attack

During the trial of Christopher Okello Onyum, accused of murdering four toddlers at a Ggaba daycare centre, digital forensic analyst ASP Kenneth Henry Angulo testified about searches on the suspect’s Motorola phone.

The device showed queries for kindergartens, preschools, and nursery schools, starting with ‘schools near me’ on Google Maps, then focusing on places like Kyanja Junior School, Matugga Pre School, Lam Kindergarten, Mom’s Love Kindergarten, Edibet ECD, and Golden Infant Kindergarten.

This suggests Okello scouted potential targets before choosing Ggaba Early Childhood Development Programme, where on April 2 he killed Gideon Eteku, Keisha Agenorwoth Otim, Ignitius Sseruyange, and Ryan Odeke. Postmortems confirmed deaths from hypovolemic shock due to deep neck wounds.

DASP Jame Eserait testified that Okello admitted surveilling the site, noting no security and mostly women present, and buying knives in advance.

Further searches included Bunga Police Station, firearm license durations, Church Close in Ggaba, and car rentals. Analysis covered nine exhibits from his Kyanja residence, tracking activity from March 12-31, 2026.

The trial continues at the mobile High Court in Ggaba, with prior evidence linking Okello’s DNA to the murder knife and placing him at the scene via call data.
