Peter Mubiru, a respected radiography specialist working at Happy Doctors Hospital in Seeta, was ambushed by motorcycle-riding attackers on Monday evening around 7:00 p.m. in Bagala Zone, Goma Division, Mukono Municipality. He suffered severe head injuries from a paver stone and died the next day after treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital.
Authorities have apprehended four suspects—Abubaker Mususwa, Joshua Olowo, George Muyanja, and Umar Basibu—in an intelligence-driven operation. Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the arrests, noting that probes continue to clarify the attack’s details and uncover additional involvement.
Owoyesigyire stated that forensic evidence and a postmortem are being collected to bolster the prosecution. The suspects are held pending murder and aggravated assault charges.
Mubiru’s death has stunned the Mukono medical community and Goma residents, who remember him as a committed professional. Locals decry surging violence, including motorcycle-related assaults, prompting calls for more evening patrols and surveillance.
Police encourage tips from the public to aid the investigation, as this tragedy underscores broader security challenges in the Mukono region.
