Chelsea Football Club has parted ways with manager Liam Rosenior following a disastrous spell that included seven defeats in their last eight matches across all competitions. The decision came after a 3-0 humiliation at Brighton, which saw the Seagulls overtake Chelsea in sixth place, leaving the Blues seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool.

Rosenior, appointed in January from Racing Strasbourg on a deal until 2032, lasted under four months. He replaced Enzo Maresca and initially impressed with four straight Premier League wins and two draws. However, form collapsed in March, highlighted by a Champions League exit to PSG on a 8-2 aggregate and five consecutive league games without a goal—the worst such streak since 1912.

The club’s only recent win was a 7-0 FA Cup thrashing of third-tier Port Vale. Fans voiced their frustration at Brighton, prompting Rosenior to apologize post-match, admitting he felt ‘numb’ and ‘angry.’ Defender Trevoh Chalobah defended the effort levels despite the loss.

Chelsea announced Calum McFarlane, previously a caretaker, as interim head coach until season’s end. The club emphasized the tough call amid ongoing aims, promising a review for a long-term appointment ahead of an FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United.
