Bayern Munich delivered a commanding performance, defeating Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 to book their spot in the German Cup final for the first time since 2019. Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a close-range strike, his seventh in the competition this season, followed by Luis Diaz’s stoppage-time goal.
The Bavarians, riding high after clinching the Bundesliga title on Sunday, dominated proceedings. They held Leverkusen scoreless at halftime, firing off nine shots while their hosts managed none. Kane, who earned man-of-the-match honors and tops the Bundesliga scoring charts with 32 goals, nearly added another before the break.
Despite a more aggressive second half from Leverkusen, including a notable save by Manuel Neuer from Nathan Tella, Bayern remained in control. Coach Vincent Kompany highlighted the club’s long-held dream of returning to Berlin for the final, emphasizing their presence in all competitions.
Kane praised the team’s high pressing and clinical display, noting they could have won by a larger margin. Bayern will face the winner of Thursday’s semi-final between VfB Stuttgart and Freiburg. Next up, they travel to Paris Saint-Germain for the Champions League semi-final first leg.
Leverkusen’s Kasper Hjulmand faces mounting pressure as his side risks missing Champions League qualification next season.
