Vipers and KCCA Keep Title Race Alive with Key Wins

Vipers and KCCA have intensified their battle for the Startimes Uganda Premier League title after both claimed victories on match-day 24.

In Hoima, Vipers defeated Buhimba 2-0 to preserve their four-point advantage. They opened the scoring in the 12th minute when a throw-in by Enock Luyima deflected off Buhimba captain Maxwell Owachgiu into the net. Karim Watambala added a second from the penalty spot 11 minutes after halftime, marking his 10th goal of the season.

Buhimba, now second from bottom with 15 points, suffered a seventh straight loss and sit in the relegation zone.

KCCA, trailing closely, ground out a 1-0 win over UPPC at Bugonga Fisheries Ground in Entebbe. Sammy Ssebaduka broke the deadlock in the 71st minute, latching onto a long ball to beat goalkeeper Rogers Omwedwa despite appearing offside.

UPPC had chances earlier, with Ambrose Kigozi denied twice by KCCA keeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa, but dropped to sixth on 40 points after Police’s 2-1 win over URA.

Other results: Bul 2-5 UPDF, Mbarara City 2-2 Maroons, Buhimba 0-2 Vipers, UPPC 0-1 KCCA.
