Provia Nangobi, a dedicated communications specialist, has built a career marked by strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement. Currently serving as Manager and Principal Licensing and Regulations at the National Identification and Registration Authority (Nira), she oversees marriage registrations, verifications, and relationships with faith leaders, marriage registrars, and diplomatic missions.
Her journey began in community-based organizations and Vantage Communications in Kampala, blending grassroots experience with corporate PR. A pivotal choice came when she opted for a Senior Public Relations Officer role at the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) over an international assignment in Bangladesh, prioritizing family.
At URSB, Nangobi grew the PR department from two to ten staff members to meet rising demands. She launched the bureau’s inaugural PR publication to highlight business trends and client growth. Her standout achievement was a full rebranding effort, updating logos, fonts, and introducing staff corporate wear, which fostered pride and unity—staff eagerly adopted Friday corporate attire without prompts.
She pioneered URSB’s social media strategy, overcoming initial backlash through targeted training, boosting online presence and earning a 2019 award from the Justice Law and Order Sector. Nangobi also contributed to opening regional offices in Gulu, Arua, Mbale, and Mbarara.
Nangobi’s education includes a bachelor’s in Tourism from Makerere University, a master’s in Leadership and Human Relations Studies, a master’s in International Communication Management from The Hague University, and a PR Diploma from the University of Nairobi. Raised with strong Catholic values, she champions patience, resilience, and a green lifestyle.
