Chelsea's Rosenior Blasts Players Amid Historic Losing Streak

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior unleashed a fierce criticism of his players following a 3-0 loss to Brighton, marking the club's worst Premier League run since 1912 with five straight goalless defeats. The upcoming FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United offers a potential lifeline, but failure there could spell trouble for the embattled coach. Liam Rosenior’s tenure at Chelsea, which began promisingly after replacing Enzo Maresca in January, has turned into a nightmare. The Blues have now suffered five consecutive Premier League losses without scoring, their worst streak since 1912, dimming Champions League hopes.

After a humiliating 3-0 defeat at Brighton, Rosenior publicly lambasted his squad. ‘I can’t defend that performance,’ he stated, adding that it fell short of the club’s standards and lacked basic professionalism. He urged players to ‘look in the mirror’ rather than blame tactics.

Initially a surprise hire from Strasbourg on a long-term deal until 2032, Rosenior won over doubters with four straight league victories. But Chelsea now languish in seventh, sliding into mid-table mediocrity, far from co-owner Behdad Eghbali’s expectations.

Tensions surfaced as defender Trevoh Chalobah claimed the team gave their all, hinting at a growing rift. Rosenior acknowledged the disconnect, stressing the need for spirit and commitment to the club over personal loyalty.

A glimmer of hope remains in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final versus Daniel Farke’s revitalized Leeds United. Rosenior emphasized making smart choices to salvage the campaign, but a loss could jeopardize his position.
