The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, in conjunction with the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), has issued a statement confirming Uganda’s stable fuel supply. Officials emphasized that current stock levels and ongoing deliveries are adequate to meet national demand.
As of April 20, Uganda held approximately 70.5 million litres of petrol, 43.2 million litres of diesel, and 32 million litres of jet fuel. These reserves are considered within operational thresholds and are set to be replenished by shipments currently en route via Kenyan and Tanzanian ports.
Further bolstering the supply, the country anticipates receiving an additional 183 million litres of petrol, 258 million litres of diesel, and 23 million litres of jet fuel between May and June. The Ministry is collaborating with UNOC, oil marketing companies, and regional partners to ensure smooth delivery and distribution.
While acknowledging occasional localized shortages and price hikes in border areas due to specific logistical issues or increased cross-border demand, the government stated it is actively addressing these concerns. They are engaging with oil marketing companies regarding any unjustified price increases.
Officials noted that global market trends, exchange rates, and geopolitical events can influence fuel prices, but assured the public that the situation is under close observation. Citizens are advised to remain calm and refrain from panic buying, as there is no cause for alarm regarding fuel availability.
The government reiterated its dedication to ensuring energy security and market stability, promising transparent communication on fuel supply matters. This assurance comes as a measure to quell any public anxiety over potential fuel scarcity. This report is based on information from Howwe Entertainment.
