Police in Uganda’s Nakapiripirit district have taken a 40-year-old man, Robert Lomer, into custody over the death of his wife, Keren Lokoru, aged 36.

The tragic event stemmed from a domestic dispute on April 15 around 7:00 p.m., which turned physical. Lomer is accused of locking Lokoru inside their home and blocking her from getting medical help.

Neighbors stepped in on the morning of April 19, forcing Lomer to take her to Moruita Brigade Health Centre III. Sadly, she was declared dead upon arrival.

Mt. Moroto regional police spokesperson Mike Longole confirmed a murder charge at Moruita police station. He praised the community’s action but lamented it was too late to save her.
