Manchester City secured a crucial 2-1 win over Premier League leaders Arsenal on Sunday, thanks to Erling Haaland’s perfectly timed goal. The Norwegian striker, who hadn’t scored in the league since February, netted his 23rd goal of the season in the 65th minute after fine play from Nico O’Reilly.
City started strongly with Rayan Cherki’s stunning solo effort in the 15th minute putting them ahead. Arsenal quickly equalized through Kai Havertz, capitalizing on a rare error by City keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma just two minutes later.
The second half saw intense action, with Eberechi Eze hitting the woodwork for Arsenal. However, Haaland’s emphatic finish proved the difference, moving City to 67 points from 32 games, trailing Arsenal’s 70 from 33.
A win against relegation-threatened Burnley on Wednesday could propel City to the top with five matches remaining.
