Nathan Nandala Mafabi, FDC secretary general and 2026 presidential candidate, relaxes at his home near Lake Victoria, savoring the calm after months of intense campaigning marked by treacherous roads and widespread poverty.

Dressed casually, he welcomes guests with warmth, enjoying local gospel music, Bible and Quran readings, and quoting Afrigo Band tunes nostalgically. Mafabi emphasizes religious tolerance, drawing wisdom from figures like Solomon, and sees common threads in faiths.

Politics has dominated his life since 2001, pulling him away from home and business. Campaign hardships included vehicles stuck in mud and floods, scarce lodging, and heartbreaking encounters with impoverished Ugandans despite fertile lands.

Betrayals stung, but Mafabi releases them, noting even Jesus faced treachery, leaving judgment to God. His ‘no turning back’ approach shifts focus to ventures in fuel, hospitality, and farming, teaching his children fish farming and goat rearing for self-reliance.

Having rebuilt businesses three times after collapses, he balances risks with limits, envisioning a Uganda where all enjoy basics like food, shelter, education, and healthcare—not just a privileged few.
