The Premier League title race is heating up as Manchester City gear up to face Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday. A victory for City would position them as favorites to reclaim the crown, especially after Arsenal’s unexpected 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth last weekend opened the door.

City’s 3-0 thrashing of Chelsea has closed the gap to six points, with an extra game to play. Should City beat Arsenal and follow it with a win at struggling Burnley midweek, they would top the table with five matches remaining, leaving Arsenal at risk of another runners-up finish.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta faces immense pressure, with pundit Gary Neville noting the mental toll of chasing a first title in 22 years. Three years ago, City demolished Arsenal 4-1 at the same venue, sparking their three-peat.

Pep Guardiola’s side has been unbeatable in April lately, winning 20 of 22 league games since 2021. Recent triumphs include a League Cup final win over Arsenal and an FA Cup blowout against Liverpool. Guardiola calls Sunday’s match a ‘final,’ warning defeat would end their hopes.

Arsenal drew confidence from knocking out Sporting in the Champions League quarters but must shake off nerves from their Bournemouth slip. They remain unbeaten in five recent league meetings with City.

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur teeter on the brink of relegation, winless in 14 games and third-from-bottom. A loss to Brighton could doom new boss Roberto De Zerbi’s side.
