A car owner in Uganda is frustrated as their vehicle’s alarm activates whenever a neighbor blasts music with heavy bass. This issue arises because many aftermarket alarms rely on shock or vibration sensors that pick up low-frequency sounds.
These sensors, meant to detect break-in attempts, can be fooled by bass notes creating pressure waves similar to thumping on the car. Resonance and high amplitude from specific songs exacerbate the problem, especially if sensitivity is set too high.
To fix this, owners can tweak the alarm’s sensitivity settings. Upgrading to a modern alarm that differentiates real threats from false triggers is another effective option. Parking farther from loud music sources may also help reduce incidents.
These steps can minimize annoying false alarms triggered by neighboring tunes.
