The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has reshuffled its leadership in Parliament, naming Hon. Anna Adeke as the new Party Whip. This follows the defection of her predecessor, Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi, to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party.
Speaker Anita Annet Among formally announced the appointment during Wednesday’s plenary session. She referenced a letter from the FDC Secretary General dated March 16, 2026, stating, “I am in receipt of a letter… appointing Hon. Anna Adeke Ebaju as Party Whip replacing Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi.” Among congratulated both MPs on their respective changes.
The Party Whip role is vital for maintaining discipline, coordinating strategies, and ensuring MPs’ attendance and unified voting, as per Parliament’s Rules of Procedure.
Adeke, the Woman Representative for Soroti District, is a veteran FDC member known for her sharp insights on governance, youth issues, and accountability. Her appointment arrives amid key debates on the 2026/27 budget, where party unity will be essential.
