President Yoweri Museveni announced initiatives to boost coffee production during the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party retreat at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.

He proposed setting up sub-regional coffee nursery beds to provide farmers with easy access to seedlings. Museveni advised aspiring coffee growers to access funding through the Parish Development Model (PDM) for this purpose.

The president, who has been at the retreat since Tuesday, emphasized better communication, urging ministries and agencies to inform MPs about district fund disbursements to prevent misunderstandings.

These comments came after a presentation by PDM national coordinator Dennis Galabuzi Ssozi on using PDM for wealth creation and poverty eradication.

The session included speeches from key figures like Agriculture Minister Frank Tumwebaze, Security Minister Jim Muhwezi, and others, with a guest from Kenya’s ruling party.

Museveni is scheduled to depart the retreat on Tuesday.
